Homemade jam/jelly is one of my favorite things! Super easy to make and doesn't include any of the added sugars or flavors that you might find in the grocery story. Grab your favorite piece of toast, add almond butter or peanut butter, and top with this homemade jelly for a satisfying breakfast! I had an egg scramble and some fresh orange slices to complete the meal (I also eat a LOT of food for my size!) so if this is filling enough, then you're good to go!
Prep Time: 5 minutes
INGREDIENTS
Handful of fresh or frozen berries (I usually like to mix up both raspberries and blueberries, but you can do just one if you prefer!).
1-2 tsp chia seeds
1-2 tsp ground flax seeds
DIRECTIONS
In a small/medium skillet, heat the frozen or fresh berries on a low heat, just until they start to melt. Slowly start to stir them together to even out the texture.
Add in the chia and flax seeds for added fiber and healthy fat (optional).
Once stirred appropriately, spread on top of your toast for some fresh jam or even turn into a pb + jelly sandwich as a mid-day snack! Enjoy!
xoxo,
Kell
