When I initially heard about bone broth, I honestly was unsure of how to incorporate it into my diet. While it is similar to typical broth that you would find in soup, it's just not something I ever considered to have on hand or to use to cook with (or even drink)! It wasn't until I actually gave it a try that I started to not only really LOVE it, but also become aware of all of its amazing benefits! I try to use it whenever I am feeling under the weather to be sure to give my immune system that little extra kick. I used it last week in particular and it worked magic! To most people's surprise, I usually drink it like a tea, and let me tell you.... it's SO comforting! It's hard to explain (I know it sounds weird to do) but I promise that it's much better than you think.

There are many benefits to incorporating bone broth into your diet:
Bone broth is extremely nutrient-dense, rich in flavor, easy to digest and really kick starts the healing process whenever you're feeling a little under the weather
It helps to boost the immune system and heal disorders such as allergies, asthma and arthritis
It is full of valuable amino acids, collagen, gelatin and trace minerals which help to enhance your muscles, skin and joint health
It is great for your gut health and the prevention of leaky gut syndrome
It helps to reduce cellulite
It can be a good water replacement for cooking vegetables, quinoa, etc. for added benefits
....and so many more!

I typically buy Bonafide Provisions (sold at Whole Foods, Sprouts or most natural food stores) because it's extremely convenient to make but also very affordable! All of their products are made from organic, grass-fed and pasture-raised bones which means that you're getting some of the best quality! No meat, fillers, preservatives or gums are ever added.
The bags are stored frozen (simply so the product can retain the most amount of nutrients) but the bags are easy to thaw out when wanting to use. Simply put the bag into the refrigerator 24 hours prior to using to let it thaw, or run under warm water if needed immediately. They usually provide about 2-3 servings, and I'd recommend using those within a few days timeframe to ensure that you receive the maximum benefits.
Another easy option to get bone broth into your diet is through a powder, that when mixed well with water, gives you the same benefits. It is a great option for when you are on the road or traveling and still want to get some into your diet! My favorite brand is Truvani Bone Broth which contains similar ingredients and the same high-quality!
Whichever method you prefer to go with, bone broth has amazing benefits! I usually just drink it straight, but this time I made the recipe from Rachaels Good Eats and it was amazing! I'll probably never go back to drinking it straight again!
INGREDIENTS:
- 1-2 cups of bone broth
- 1/2 cup filtered water (optional, but helps to thin out the taste a little bit)
- 1 tsp ghee
- dash of adobo seasoning
- dash of turmeric
- dash of salt + ground pepper
- squeeze of citrus, lemon or lime (optional)
- 2-3 tbsp chopped cilantro (optional)
- 1/3 avocado, diced (optional)
DIRECTIONS:
On a medium temperature on the stove, simply pour in bone broth and all other ingredients into a small pot (except for cilantro and avocado). Stir until well heated and mixed, and then pour into a mug and enjoy! Add chopped avocado and cilantro on top if desired.
Let me know what you think when you try it out!
