So.... who doesn't love fries!? I mean really -- I think growing up I used to always make sure to order a side of fries whenever I was able to (especially at Chick-Fil-A with their sauce included.....YUM!) Now, I don't really eat fries as often as I used to, but I 100% still love them. My personal preference is now some crispy sweet potato fries whenever I can get my hands on them. Another type that I like? Avocado fries!
These are no joke so amazing and the perfect combination of smooth and crunchy --- and if you add an amazing dipping sauce on the side too, you definitely won't be able to stop eating them. They're great as an appetizer, a mid-day snack or even as a side dish! Full of healthy fats and few carbs to allow you to feel full. I made them the other night as a side with dinner and they were so delicious that I have to share! They only take a few ingredients to make (which honestly can be mixed and matched if needed/budget doesn't allow for all of the ones I used). Just try to stick to as clean of ingredients as you can :)
Prep Time: 15 minutes
Cook Time: 20 minutes
Total Time: 35 minutes
Serving Size: 12-15 fries
Ingredients (fries):
2 large or 4 small avocados, peeled and sliced
1/4 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 cup almond (or coconut) flour
3 egg whites (or 1/2 cup milk of choice)
1 bag of Siete Foods tortilla chips (or 2 cups of breadcrumbs, gluten-free if desired!)
salt + pepper
various desired seasonings
Ingredients & Directions (dipping sauce):
extra virgin olive oil
salt + pepper
freshly squeezed lime juice
garlic powder
**Simply whisk all ingredients together in a bowl until even
Directions (fries):
Preheat oven to 420 degrees
Grease a baking sheet, and set aside
Slice the avocados into thin, long pieces
Combine the garlic, salt and flour into a shallow bowl
In a second separate bowl, add the egg whites or milk
In a third bowl, (after having been processed into crumbs in a food processor), add the chip or bread crumbs
Take an avocado, dip it into the flour bowl, then the egg white bowl, then the bread crumb bowl (make sure to press down to ensure that the crumbs stick to it and it's fully covered)
Place on the baking tray. Repeat with the rest of the avocado slices until all have been coated with bread crumbs
Sprinkle on any additional seasonings
Bake in oven for 10 minutes, then flip slices over and bake for 10 more minutes, or until golden brown.
Enjoy!!!!
